The Department of Software Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh, is pleased to share that a Library Orientation Program was successfully organized by the Green University Library in collaboration with the Department of Software Engineering on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Seminar Room (A-302).

The orientation program was thoughtfully arranged to introduce newly admitted students to the University's library services, collections, facilities, access procedures, and digital resources. The informative session provided students with valuable guidance on how to effectively discover, access, and utilize both print and electronic resources to support their academic studies, learning, and research.

The program commenced with a warm welcome from the program anchor, Ms. Kazi Fatema, a student of the Department of Software Engineering. This was followed by an engaging motivational address from the student representative, Mr. Sapnil Shahriar Suad, who encouraged the newly admitted students to develop a regular reading habit and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between academic activities and excessive screen time.

The technical session was conducted by Ms. Zakia Sultana Tamanna, Library Officer, Green University Library. She provided a comprehensive overview of the Library's collections, membership procedures, borrowing policies, facilities, digital resources, remote access services, and rules and regulations. The students also benefited from live demonstrations on using the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), accessing e-books, e-journals, scholarly databases, and other electronic resources. Practical guidance on advanced search techniques further helped students understand how to locate reliable and relevant academic information effectively.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, respected Chairperson of the Department of Software Engineering. In his inspiring remarks, he highlighted the significant role of the Library in students' academic, intellectual, and personal development. He encouraged the newly admitted students to make regular use of the Library's rich collections, cultivate a meaningful reading habit, and reduce excessive dependence on mobile phones. He emphasized that engaging with books and scholarly resources can broaden knowledge, enhance analytical and critical-thinking abilities, and contribute to becoming well-rounded individuals.

The event was also attended by the respected faculty members of the Department of Software Engineering, Mr. Kazi Hasnayeen Emad, Mr. Abrar Hasan, Mr. K. M. Tahlil Mahfuz Faruk, and Mr. Sian Ashsad. Their presence and support contributed to making the orientation a meaningful and engaging experience for the newly admitted students.

The Department of Software Engineering sincerely appreciates the Green University Library for organizing this informative and timely orientation program for our newly admitted students. Such initiatives play an important role in helping students become familiar with the University's academic resources from the very beginning of their university journey. The Department is grateful to the Library Officer, organizing team, student volunteers, faculty members, and all participating students for their valuable contributions and enthusiastic participation.

The Department of Software Engineering looks forward to continued collaboration with the Green University Library in organizing similar initiatives that encourage students to explore academic resources, develop lifelong learning habits, and excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
