Fresher's Orientation - Fall 2026

The Department of Software Engineering proudly welcomed the newest members of its academic family through a vibrant and inspiring Freshers’ Orientation Program – Fall 2026. The program was organized to warmly receive the newly admitted students and introduce them to the academic environment, faculty members, student activities, mentorship opportunities, and the broader community of the Department of Software Engineering.

The orientation program was held on September 27, 2026 (Sunday), from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Room B-108, Green University of Bangladesh.

The program began on a spiritual note with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Md. Mahmudul Hasan Khan (Batch 250) at 11:30 AM. This was followed by a recitation from the Holy Gita by Poulami Datta Hoymo (Batch 250) at 11:35 AM, reflecting the spirit of harmony and inclusivity within the university community.

At 11:40 AM, Mahima Akhter (Batch 250) delivered a warm welcome speech on behalf of the senior students, sharing encouragement and valuable perspectives with the newly admitted students as they began their university journey.

The program then featured a video documentary on the Department of Software Engineering, presented by Towsif Diganta (Batch 252) at 11:45 AM. The documentary provided the freshers with an overview of the department, its academic environment, achievements, and student activities.

At 11:50 AM, Nusrat Rahman (Batch 261) introduced the faculty members of the Department of Software Engineering through a presentation, along with the department’s club members. This session helped the new students become familiar with the people and communities they will be connected with throughout their academic journey.

Next, at 11:55 AM, Sapnil Shahriar Suad (Batch 251) introduced the Mentorship Program, highlighting the importance of guidance, peer support, and meaningful connections in navigating university life.

At 11:59 AM, Moynul Hasan Jisan (Batch 251) presented an overview of the GUB Mars Rovers Team, giving the freshers an opportunity to learn about one of the university's exciting student-led technical initiatives and encouraging them to explore opportunities beyond the classroom. Additionally, the GUB Mars Rover team presented their latest Rover model live in front of the newly admitted students.

The program continued at 12:04 PM with an Introduction to Programming Contests, delivered by our newly appointed lab lecturer and former president of Green University Programming Club, Mr. Ismatul Islam Pranto. The session introduced students to the world of competitive programming and encouraged them to develop their problem-solving, logical thinking, and programming skills.

At 12:19 PM, Mr. Abrar Hasan, Lecturer and Program Coordinator, Department of Software Engineering, conducted a presentation on “All Necessary Documents for Fresher Students”, followed by an interactive Q&A session. The session provided essential academic information and practical guidance to help the new students understand and navigate their academic journey effectively.

The program then proceeded with certifications and gifts at 12:23 PM, led by Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, Chairperson, Department of Software Engineering. This segment added a special touch to the celebration and recognized the contributions and participation associated with the orientation program.

The event concluded with a speech from the Session Chair and Honourable Chairperson of the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, at 12:27 PM. In his address, he warmly welcomed the freshers and shared important messages about the department's academic environment, values, expectations, and opportunities.
