"Introduction to Competitive Programming and Online Judge Platforms," held on April 22, 2025, and proudly organized by the Green Software Engineering Club (GSEC) under the Department of Software Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh.
In this session, we were honored to have an inspiring Keynote Speaker:
🎙 Saroar Jahan Sojib, Software Engineer, TechnoNext Ltd.
Ex-Student, Dept. of CSE, GUB
Mr. Sojib delivered a highly engaging talk where he shared his journey from university life to a successful software engineering career. He provided in-depth insights into the world of competitive programming, the strategic use of online judge platforms like Codeforces and LeetCode, and the real-world advantages of problem-solving skills in tech careers. His session inspired students to embrace a mindset of continuous learning, practice, and self-challenge.
We were deeply honored by the presence of our Special Guests:
🎖 Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahman, Chairperson, Dept. of CSE, GUB
🎖 Dr. Muhammad Abul Hasan, Chairperson, Dept. of ADS, GUB
Both shared valuable perspectives on the future of software engineering education and encouraged students to push their limits through regular participation in coding challenges. They emphasized how these platforms not only help sharpen algorithmic thinking but also build resilience, strategic problem-solving abilities, and a growth mindset—key qualities for thriving in the competitive tech industry. Their words served as a powerful reminder that consistency, curiosity, and community engagement are essential for developing as a future-ready software professional.
Our sincere appreciation goes to our Guests:
🎖 Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib,Professor, Dept. of CSE, GUB
who passionately emphasized the critical importance of technical excellence in today’s fast-evolving tech landscape. He highlighted how platforms like Codeforces, LeetCode, and HackerRank serve as powerful tools that not only build core programming strength but also empower students to compete and collaborate on a global stage. His words served as a strong call to action for students to embrace these platforms as stepping stones toward becoming world-class professionals capable of thriving in international tech arenas.
A special thanks to our Session Chair:
🎖 Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, Chairperson, Dept. of SWE, GUB,
for skillfully guiding the seminar and sharing insightful reflections on bridging academic learning with hands-on, extracurricular problem-solving. He stressed the importance of moving beyond textbooks to actively engage in coding competitions, real-life projects, and collaborative tech communities. His message highlighted how this holistic approach not only strengthens technical foundations but also equips students with the agility, confidence, and practical skills essential for succeeding in real-world tech environments.
Before delivering his speech, Dr. Mostafijur Rahman also had the honor of presenting a crest to our keynote speaker, Mr. Saroar Jahan Sojib, as a token of appreciation. Additionally, he proudly handed over crests to two of our outstanding students—Mr. Mustafijur Islam and Dipankar Sarker—who were awarded Champion and 2nd Runner-Up, respectively, at the IDPC Contest 2025, celebrating their remarkable achievements and inspiring the next generation of coders at GUB.
We sincerely thank all participating students, faculty members, and especially the hardworking team of GSEC for their dedication in making this event a resounding success. The enthusiastic engagement, lively Q&A, and positive energy throughout the seminar were a true testament to the growing interest in programming and innovation among our students.
We look forward to organizing many more such impactful sessions in the near future to continue nurturing our students’ academic and professional growth.
