Freshers' Orientation Program, Dept. of SWE – Fall 2025 (Batch 252)

The Department of Software Engineering-Green University, in collaboration with the Green Software Engineering Club, successfully organized an inspiring Orientation Program on September 24, 2025, at Room B-108, Green University of Bangladesh. The event aimed to welcome the new batch of students, familiarize them with the department, and motivate them to embark on their academic journey with confidence and enthusiasm.

The program unfolded seamlessly, offering a memorable experience for all attendees. The session began with soulful and respectful recitations from the Holy Quran by Md. Mahmudul Hasan Khan (Batch 250) and the Holy Gita by Shormishtha Halder (Batch 242), setting a serene and inclusive tone for the day.

This was followed by a warm and heartfelt welcome speech by Dipankar Sarkar (Batch 242), where he shared valuable and relatable experiences as a senior student, creating an immediate connection with the freshers. Next, the audience enjoyed a captivating and well-crafted video documentary on the Department of Software Engineering, presented by Md. Adil Hossain (Batch 251). This gave the newcomers a vivid glimpse into the department’s achievements, culture, and opportunities. Tayebur Rahman Fahim (Batch 242) then offered a clear and informative introduction of faculty members and club members, ensuring that new students felt welcomed and supported by the department’s vibrant community.

The program continued with an insightful and thought-provoking discussion on Mentorship and Social Capitals by Md. Shahinur Osman Sohail (Mentor), highlighting the importance of building networks and seeking guidance for personal and academic growth.

The highlight of the event was the inspiring keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice Chancellor of GUB, who spoke passionately about excellence, innovation, and the transformative power of AI, encouraging students to embrace future challenges with confidence and creativity.

Mr. Abrar Hasan (Lecturer and Program Coordinator) then shared practical and detailed academic guidelines, offering freshers a helpful roadmap for success and ensuring they understood the university’s standards and expectations. The event continued with an interactive and engaging Q&A session, where freshers actively participated and received direct clarifications from mentors and faculty members.

Finally, Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman (Chairperson, SWE) delivered a gracious and appreciative closing speech, thanking all participants, speakers, and organizers. His encouraging words left students feeling motivated and prepared to start their journey at Green University of Bangladesh.

The orientation ended on an uplifting note, inspiring the new students to strive for excellence, embrace innovation, and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
