
The Department of Software Engineering (SWE), Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized the Freshers’ Orientation Program Spring 2026 on February 2, 2026, at 11:30 AM in Room B-108. The program was arranged by the Green Software Engineering Club to warmly welcome the newly admitted students of the Spring 2026 semester and introduce them to the department’s academic culture, values, and support systems.
The program commenced on a spiritual note with recitations from the Holy Quran by Md. Mahmudul Hasan Khan (Batch 250) and the Holy Gita by Poulomi Dutta Hoymo (Batch 250), setting a respectful and reflective tone for the event.
Following this, a warm welcome address was delivered by senior student Dipankar Sarkar (Batch 242), who shared his academic experiences and offered valuable advice to the freshers on adapting to university life and making the most of their academic journey.
A documentary video highlighting the Department of Software Engineering was then presented by Md. Adil Hossain (Batch 251). The video showcased the department’s academic achievements, learning environment, student activities, and notable milestones. Subsequently, Sapnil Shahriar Suad (Batch 251) introduced the esteemed faculty members of the department along with the club members.
Later in the program, Mr. Salman Kabir Sany (Mentor) delivered an insightful session on the Mentorship Program and Social Capital, emphasizing their importance in academic success, personal growth, and professional development.
The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, as the Special Guest. In his address, he encouraged students to focus on three essential principles: setting clear goals, assessing their determination to achieve them, and understanding the sacrifices required for success. He also shared perspectives on emerging technologies and how rapid technological advancements are reshaping various industries.
The program was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring speech, he reaffirmed the university’s and department’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and continuous student support. He highlighted the role of research and technology-driven innovation in national and global development.
Following this, Mr. Abrar Hasan, Lecturer and Program Coordinator of the Department of Software Engineering, provided essential academic guidelines and documents to help students effectively navigate their academic journey.
An interactive Q&A session allowed the newly admitted students to engage directly with faculty members, seek clarifications, and gain confidence about their academic path.
The program was chaired by Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Software Engineering. In his address, he warmly welcomed the freshers, introduced them to the department’s vision, values, and academic expectations, and expressed sincere appreciation to the organizers, mentors, moderators, student volunteers, and faculty members for their collective efforts in making the program successful.
The event was gracefully hosted by Kazi Fatema Mubasshira (Batch 251) and Sayad Shamim (Batch 251), whose professionalism ensured a smooth and engaging flow throughout the session.
Overall, the Freshers’ Orientation Program Spring 2026 successfully laid a strong foundation for the new students, fostering confidence, motivation, and a sense of belonging as they embark on their academic journey at the Department of Software Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh.
