The Department of Software Engineering at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), in collaboration with the Green Software Engineering Club, successfully organized its Freshers' Orientation Program to warmly welcome the newly admitted students of the Spring 2025 semester. The event was held on June 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM in Room B-108 and brought together students, faculty members, and special guests in a vibrant gathering designed to introduce students to the academic and cultural fabric of the department.

The program began with recitations from sacred texts, featuring Anik Ahmed Rafi (Batch 242) with verses from the Holy Quran, and Shormishtha Halder (Batch 242) with a reading from the Holy Gita. These spiritual openings set a respectful and inclusive tone for the day.

Following this, Dipankar Sarkar (Batch 242) delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, sharing his journey as a student of Software Engineering and offering practical advice and encouragement to the incoming cohort. His words resonated with students and faculty alike.

A short documentary on the Department of Software Engineering, curated by Sapnil Suad (Batch 251), was presented to showcase the department’s accomplishments, vibrant activities, and student life. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause, appreciating the visual storytelling of departmental achievements.

Tayebur Rahman Fahim took the stage to introduce the department’s faculty members, followed by Fahim Mahmud, a mentor in the department, who explained the significance of the Mentorship Program and Social Capitals—initiatives aimed at guiding students through academic and professional development.

The program was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Director of IQAC at GUB, who attended as the Special Guest. His inspiring speech addressed the evolving landscape of science and technology, and encouraged students to embrace innovation and lifelong learning.

The event was further honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, who served as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he praised the department’s dedication to academic excellence and emphasized the transformative impact of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), on the global workforce and industry practices.

Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Software Engineering, served as Session Chair. In his address, he extended a warm welcome to the freshers, highlighting the department’s vision, values, and academic rigor. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the organizers, moderators, mentors, student volunteers, club members, and all faculty members for their contributions to the successful execution of the event.

In a practical segment of the program, Mr. Abrar Hasan, Program Coordinator, provided essential academic guidelines and important documentation to help students smoothly transition into university life.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students were encouraged to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding academic processes, facilities, and opportunities available within the department.

The entire event was smoothly conducted by anchors Moynul Hasan Jishan and Jannatul Nayeema, whose energetic and professional hosting ensured an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
